Special COVID-19 Announcement

Dear Friends,

So much has happened since I sent out the information at the first
of the week that it is necessary to make some adjustments. The Corona-
virus is a fluid situation and we need to be flexible as much as we can.

Regarding Sunday services, we want to clarify what we need to do.
Wednesday afternoon, I attended an internet conference call with our
director of missions and approximately 25 pastors in southern Arizona.
I have also been in communication with our state executive director,
Dr. David Johnson. Each Southern Baptist Church is autonomous so
we make our call as to how to respond to situations. Sunday morning,
attendance is discouraged, but we will not lock anyone out who shows.
We will arrange the chairs honoring the “social distancing” that has
been suggested (chairs will be six feet apart).

We will do live streaming of the service. Mark Wren, Thom Linders, and I
have been working on the technical end of the broadcast and we are
almost there to make it happen. We have a dry run set for Friday night.
If everything goes well, we will give instruction as to how to access the
broadcast. The praise team has agreed to work with Mark in bringing
music. In other words, we will try to make a presentation that will
closely mirror online what takes place each Sunday morning at the
church facility. Pray that things will go smoothly.

Also, I will be sending out to the prayer chain the names of people in our
church who are most vulnerable. We want to check on each other and
make sure that care is being given to those who need it.
Rick Warren has named them Care Callers; we can call them Sandario
Servants. But let’s stay in contact with one another; keep the body
unified in Christ by showing love, care, and attention to the needs of
others.

Someone told me today that this virus is sent by God as His judgment. I’m
not certain I agree with that statement. As I shared with someone else,
this virus has the devil’s fingerprints all over it. He is the author of
confusion, chaos, turmoil, and fear. Our God offers peace and comfort
to those who trust in Him. Satan has only as much power as God
allows him to have. He is a defeated enemy.

May we heed Hebrews 12:2…

“We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our
faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross,
because he knew that later on he would be glad he did.
(CEV)

Our Savior is still on the throne. He is in control. Our hope and our strength
are in Him alone! Keep your eyes on Him!

In Him,

Pastor Bob
